Xinyi Zhang
Xinyi Zhang is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans across painting, new media, and digital technologies.
Her visual and sensory works, depicting fantastical landscapes, elemental energies, and channeled objects from invisible realms, center on themes of spirituality, nature, and care. Through her practice, Zhang hopes to foster greater connection and healing — within ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.
Zhang works intuitively through vibrations of color and gesture. New media, sound, and digital technologies such as AI are used to engage with diverse knowledge systems and bridge multilayered realities and ways of being.
Zhang holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2014) and a M.S. in Computer Science from University of British Columbia (2018). As a R&D engineer and technologist with expertise in graphics and machine learning, she’s developed innovative technologies for companies including Disney, Pixar, and Google, and won the Best Paper Award at Siggraph MIG for her research on Generative AI for Computer Animation.
Zhang has exhibited in contemporary galleries and community spaces in both the U.S and Europe.
